Art for the HeArt and Soul

Hello everyone sorry I have absent for long after just getting started. I have been busy with the ladies getting Art for the HeArt and Soul off the ground. Tina Canupp, Cher Stienhauser and myself have started a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to help people heal through art.
Art for the HeArt and Soul is a 501(3)c nonprofit organization that helps people heal through art. We want our clients to know they are not alone and that we care about them. One of our goals is to help others build self-confidence and self-worth. We believe that this can be done through art and journaling. We reach out to recovery centers, hospitals, shelters and individuals who would benefit from healing through art. We supply our clients with handmade art journals and art supplies. We are dedicated to paying it forward to people in need, with the hope that they will one day be in a situation where they can pay if forward and make a difference in someone else's life.

Please check out our website http://www.artfortheheartandsoul.org/
If you have any questions or want to find out how you can help, please contact me at patricia@art4theheartandsoul.com, or one of the other ladies; tina@art4thehaertandsoul.com and cher@art4theheartandsoul.com and we will get back to you right away.

You can contribute by getting involved, volunteering your time, helping with supplies and journals, purchasing items from our online store or making monetary contributions. If you know of anyone that would benefit from a journal, please feel free to fill out the nomination form which is located on the last page on the website and someone will get back to you right away. Your help will make a difference in someone's life.

Baby Wipe Art

Recently I received a package of goodies from fellow artist Jessica Brogan. Among all the wonderful things in the box was a beautiful hand painted piece of cloth. When I thanked Jessica for the goodies she told me that what I thought was cloth was, in fact, a hand painted baby wipe. A baby wipe!

Now I use baby wipes for all kinds of things that have nothing to do with babies. They are great for removing paint from a canvas, cleaning brushes and fingers, cleaning rubber stamps, smooshing paint around, and blending colored pencils, just to name a few things. I had never thought to save them and turn them into a piece of art. They are actually quite spectacular. I will admit it has become sort of an obsession now. I have them drying all over the place.

I few days ago in a rubber stamp group that I belong to some posted a picture of a similar thing done with dryer sheets and then rubber stamps. I don't have any dryer sheets but thought that I could do the same thing with baby wipes and rubber stamps. So I pulled out my RubberMoon Art Stamps ( http://rubbermoon.com/ ) and went to work. Below are a couple of the better ones.

My first attempts were rather... well, bad. They are in the trash bin. You have to ink the stamp up heavily and really press down to get a nice image. I think the examples below turned out quite lovely. They will either go into my art journal or be sent to someone else in a package of "Happy Mail".

My Introduction into the World of Blogging

My name is Patti Campbell. I am a happily married mother of three teenagers (two boys and a girl).  I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and for the past 17 years I have been running my own family child care business. My job is as rewarding as it is challenging.

I am a self taught artist. At the heART of it all, art is what makes my heart sing! I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. I spend a lot of my time drawing and painting. I am a huge rubber stamp enthusiast. I love mixed media and collage. One of the best feelings in the world is when you are done and you step back, look at your creation, and with a big proud smile on your face, say "I made that!"

Social media has become a great way to connect like-minded people. I belong to several artist groups on Facebook and have connected with so many wonderfully talented people who I happily call my friends. One of these friends has inspired me to take another step on my journey and publish a blog. I love art! I love to make it, learn about it, look at it, and read about it. So why not write about it? It seems like a logical next step.

So here I am setting out on another adventure; I am an art blogger. I want to share my stories, tips, tricks, online classes and groups, products I love, and any other art related things I think you might find interesting.

This is my very 1st post, my test drive. I hope you'll come along for the ride.
